Buying CEM-1 PCB can mean purchasing raw copper-clad laminate, ordering fabricated circuit boards or sourcing assembled products. These are different transactions with different suppliers and required information. Clarify the intended delivery before asking for prices.
If you need laminate
Specify the manufacturer and grade, thickness, copper construction, sheet dimensions and quantity. Confirm the product’s current documentation and how it will be identified on delivery. A generic material name does not describe all available forms.
Nan Ya’s official CEM-1 documentation identifies a cellulose-paper-core and glass-cloth-surface construction. Use the selected product’s information rather than transferring a description from another composite material in the CEM family.
If you need fabricated boards
Provide the circuit artwork, drill data, outline and acceptance requirements. Ask the fabricator to confirm the proposed CEM-1 grade and process. The supplier should review the actual holes, dimensions and circuit features before an order is treated as technically accepted.
Make clear whether materials are fixed or whether the fabricator may propose alternatives. Any change needs review against the assembly and application requirements.
If you need assemblies
Add the fitted BOM, placement information and assembly drawing. Confirm that the chosen board material and construction are compatible with the intended soldering and downstream operations. The assembler needs the actual material proposal, not only a shorthand note on the order.

Check the complete cost
Include preparation, tooling, inspection and delivery in the comparison. Buying material directly may be inappropriate if the fabricator already sources an approved grade efficiently. Conversely, a material-control requirement may justify a nominated source.
Do not compare a bare laminate price with a finished-board quotation as though both represent the same product. Ask each supplier to identify exclusions clearly. Confirm whether quoted quantities mean sheets, panels or individual finished circuits before calculating the cost per required board.
Confirm a repeatable baseline
For an initial purchase, evaluate representative material or boards against the intended process. Record the grade, construction and results. Preserve the accepted specification for repeat orders and review substitutions before they reach production.
CEM-1 should be selected because it meets the product requirements in the proposed construction, not because an article describes it as the best material for every board.
