You can update multiple pages of your website with 2 mouse clicks in Swimbi. What do I mean by static website? Static website consist of HTML pages, delivered to the user exactly as stored. Learn how to update any repeating content sitewide with a few mouse clicks:


Insert a menu into multiple website pages


  1. Open your site home page in the Swimbi app
  2. Add menu items and set links to other pages by clicking the Browse button

  4. Click the Publish button (In the top right corner of the Live Preview area)

  6. If your page contains relative links to existing pages (they do exists if you add them via Browse button), you will see Update All button on the left side of the Preview Window panel

  8. Click the Update All button to open the Update window
  9. In the Update window you can remove or add pages in the update list

  12. choose insert position
  13. If your pages doesn't have Swimbi menu code, you need to click "Choose insert position" link and select menu position for every page
Now when a menu is inserted in all pages of your site, you can test it in the Preview window or any browser, to make sure that your menu works correctly on every page of your website.


Generate new pages for your website in Swimbi


If you constructing a website from scratch, there is a simple way to generate multiple pages for your website in Swimbi app and fill them with a content later. Swimbi makes all pages connected by a navigation menu, that allows to jump from page to page locally and test your website without a server. Besides you can use Swimbi as a simple template engine and update all repeating content sitewide.
  1. Create a template page containing only repeating elements, using any text/html editor
  2. Open the template page in Swimbi
  3. Clone the page, name new pages as you wish

  5. Add menu items and set links to other pages by clicking the Browse button

  9. Click the Update All button (on left side of the Preview Window panel) to open the Update window

  11. Edit the page list if you need to remove or add some items

Use Swimbi as simple template engine


Another valuable feature is the ability to update any repeating content on your site, not only navigation menu. For example you can update website header, footer, sidebar on all pages with a few clicks.
  • Add the prefix "sw-repeat-" to IDs of repeating elements on your website.
  • E.g. id="footer" rename to id="sw-repeat-footer", id="header" to id='sw-repeat-header'

  • Make sure that all IDs are unique
  • Edit your pages code right in Swimbi Code View mode, press Ctrl+S (or Crtl+Alt+S on Mac OS) to save changes

The template engine is simple but capable to save you a lot of time. It may be a perfect solution for small websites without server side technologies or CMS.
